Ground Disturbing Potential
of Conservation Practices

Sorted alphabetically by conservation practice name

During the conservation planning process, the NRCS must consider the ground disturbing potential of activities associated with the application of a conservation practice and its impact on cultural resources that may be present at or near the site. Some practices have a greater potential than others. Below is a list of conservation practices and their ground disturbing potential.

Any planned practice that is ground disturbing may need to be submitted for review by the State Historic Preservation Officer and Tribal Historic Preservation Officers. Please see the Cultural Resources Review Process Flowchart for an outline of this process.

Click on a conservation practice name to navigate to the Conservation Practices area of our Web page where you can download documents such as Conservation Practice Standards, Specifications, and Job Sheets.

Note: Any practices that do not appear in the following table should be considered as ground disturbing.

Disturbing Potential Key

G = Ground Disturbing
PG = Potentially Ground Disturbing
NG = Not Ground Disturbing
