The Text Leader Command (Tlead)

This command was written by a user of Autodesk products, not Autodesk Inc. Therefore, the end user is responsible for any problems that may arise due to the installation and use of it.

The Tlead command draws a leader from an existing Text, Dtext or Mtext entity. The command is typed in the AutoCAD command line.

Features of the Text Leader (Tlead) command:

  • The Tlead command always draws a horizontal leg. There is no need to be in Ortho or Polar mode to ensure the leg is horizontal.

  • The horizontal leg will always be drawn to the length needed to reach the text.

  • When a snap is used to select the location of the leader arrow, (snap to end, middle, etc.) the location will be remembered if the line is moved, shortened or lengthened.

  • Select the point where you want the leader arrow to be, and then select the point where the leader will bend to form the horizontal leg over to the text.

Prompts received when using Tlead on text created by the Text command

  • The prompts are the same, but in the case of plain text, Tlead does not see a top or bottom line. The horizontal leg will always be drawn to middle of the end of the selected text. Either end may be selected.
