Rename a block
Occasionally, you may need to rename a block in a
drawing to provide a more descriptive name or correct an error in the name.
This procedure guides the user through the steps to rename a block.
-
At the command prompt, type rename. This will open the
Rename dialog box.
The Named Objects window will display a list of named
objects in the drawing.
-
Select Blocks from the Named Objects window. The
Items window displays the names of all blocks in the
drawing.
-
Highlight the block to be renamed. The block name appears in the
Old Name window.
-
Type the new block name in the window adjacent to the
Rename To button. You can also
copy/paste the name from the Old Name window to the Rename window for
editing.
-
Select the OK button to accept the new name and exit
the Rename dialog box, or select the Rename To button to
accept the new name and remain in the Rename dialog box if you need to
repeat the process for another block.
