Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP)

Local Focus Areas

New York State is divided into seven watersheds. Each watershed has up to three “Local Focus Areas”. The focuses address high priority natural resource concerns with unique local ranking criteria, and separate funding pools. Producers can make one application to one Local Focus Area.

  1. Livestock Waste
  2. Cropland
  3. Grazing

All EQIP applications are evaluated and ranked on a competitive basis. Once an application is determined to be eligible, the NRCS Conservationist will evaluate the application using specific ranking criteria for each focus area.

EQIP payments are limited to $300,000 per individual or entity from 2009-2014, regardless of the number of farms or contracts.
